Fan site donates $4,600 to charity on behalf of Super Junior
Super Junior’s biggest international fan site celebrated the boy band’s fifth anniversary by donating money to charity.
SJ-World.net, with more than 45,000 members, informed the Manila Bulletin that in honor of Super Junior, members donated 5.1 million won (about $4,605 or P196,505) to the Korean Animal Protection Society (KAPS) under the boy band’s name.
KAPS is an organization that works for the protection of animals. It runs an animal shelter.
Doohwan Lee, member of KAPS, thanked SJ-world.net for the generosity.
“Many animals will benefit from your kindness, so we are very thrilled to receive your support,” Doohwan said.
“If the members of Super Junior heard about the donation from your fan club, they would feel proud and happy that their fans care about animals that can be so often neglected and helpless to defend themselves from harm.”
Last May, SJ-World.net donated 4.5 million won (about P173,387) to UNICEF when Super Junior returned to the K-pop scene.
Super Junior celebrated their fifth anniversary with a fan meeting in Seoul on Nov. 6.
On their Twitter accounts, Super Junior members thanked ELFs (Everlasting Friends), the collective name for their fans, for their continued support.
Leader Leeteuk expressed his appreciation to the fans and SM Entertainment for all their love.
Super Junior is a 13-member boy band is composed of Leeteuk, Donghae, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, Yesung, Kangin, Heechul, Hangeng, Kyuhyun, Sungmin, Shindong and Kibum.
